Default Requests/Improvements to the Battle Isles

I really like the training/testing area of the battle isles. However, it has become a bit dated and could benefit from some added features imo. I would like to see it updated (a higher priority is skill balance, but after they fix those flaws this would be a nice feature to update).

Things I would like to see:

The ability to set customizable NPCs to use whatever skills you want to set them up. This would allow you to test how you could perform AGAINST certain skills. Perhaps some rudementary commands as well, so they can simulate running flags in a 8v8, trying to cap an altar, or something to that effect.

The ability to take 1 to 8 of these customizable NPCs and fight against them in a PvP map. Then you could practice against them to get a feel for what an 6v6 or 8v8 fight would be like. For example, you could set up 8 enemy NPCs to a hex type build and test a two monk backline against it. And so on.

The ability to explore or scrim on any pvp map from any format. The maps should exist as they would be played (complete with NPCs, environemental effects, etc). This would be used to familiarize yourself with all the pvp maps and/or to practice strategies against humans or NPCs.

The ability to send challenges would be nice. So for example you could scrim a group of friends in a 4v4 fight on one of the TA maps, for example.

Some way to test or practice your infuse/interrupt speed. Ideally with a counter of some kind to keep average scores, etc.

When you are in the testing zone, all toons are UAX. A try before you buy for all skills and features would be nice.

More tutorials to help people make the transition to PvP. Similar to the old zaishen challenges and such, but with actual rewards and updated. And more advanced.

A template of the week -- allow each guild of the week to submit a template. This tempalte would be available from an NPC on the isles where people could try it out (for free even if they werent UAX) and see if they liked it. This could be used to encourage people to try new builds.

A better trophy case ;0 Bigger, more impressive, and more people honored imo. Historical ladders, notable achievements. People would love it. And get rid of the clutter as well.

What would you guys like to see?

Sounds like a lot of work for Anet to implement, but I would certainly enjoy it. XD

I especially love the idea of having a template of the week. It's even possible to go further than that, and add a template guy to HA with weekly templates for every profession, making HA more accessible.

Stop letting guilds pick their own maps. Make it like CAL in Counter-Strike. Every day, there is a different map, selected by Anet. Guilds are able to prepare a build for this map, so there is no surprize advantage. We play on this map all day, then prepare for the next map the next day. This would also let us skip burning isle day (woo-hoo!). This might perpetuate "Build Wars," yes, but it would also do away with scrubby gimmick builds once and for all.

That would just make it "spike build day", "split build day", etc... highly predictable = less fun, imo.

I like all of the ideas, but as nightrunner said that's potentially quite a bit of work for Anet to implement them all. Considering they're all improvements, every bit helps

Can kinda do that in a GvG scrim, but you do need 4 people total to have complete control over all skills atm. The commands would be highly highly useful, maybe some kind of extremely basic "Preference" system per NPC, similar to Aggressive vs Guard vs Passive settings for heroes... Flagrun, altar cap... split and gank? ;o I wish.

This would be fairly easy to do I think, and could be pretty helpful.

I don't know how much tutorials help newer PvP players in the first place, but couldn't be a bad thing.

No comment really. I don't really look at the trophies unless for some reason I really want to know what EvIL's roster was...?
